Lion Toys was formed in 1946 in the Netherlands to make model train parts. The first car was introduced in 1956 and were sold as Lion Cars. At some point, the name Lion Cars was dropped. In 2010, Lion Toys was taken over by Tekno, another Dutch model truck manufacturer.
