Pip & Norton have been together for nearly as long as Ernie & Bert, but not as long as Sylvester & Tweety. They've existed for much longer than there have been comic-book stories written about them. By the time that happened, they had their schtick totally nailed. This graphic novel includes all their best work plus their first appearance in the Dark Horse anthology Scatterbrain. The story, "Spinning Buddha," is all about poor impressionable Pip's uncontrollable infatuation with material possessions, in this case the latest, fanciest of toys: The Spinning Buddha. Also included are several other epic stories from other Dark Horse anthologies; and many of the best monthly P&N strips that have appeared in the edgy youth culture magazine Vice over the past three years; plus a new 10-page extravaganza about Pip's obsessive love for Barbra Streisand, and Barbra's earth-shattering psychic powers! All these things (and more) are wrapped up like a gift. Eye-popping covers and endpapers will make you feel like you've just visited some miraculous synthesis of the Louvre and Disneyland.

Dave Cooper (Suckle) returns to DHP with a brand-new strip. "Dan and Larry" are pals . . . but Larry's got some creepy problems that make Dan a little uncomfortable. Stan and Vince (Tarzan) wrap up their ultraviolent science-fiction story, "Metalfer," with a super-ending that has to be seen to be believed. And Shane Oakley (Rock `n' Roll High School) continues the story of "Stiltskin," a child with a strange affliction that makes him an outcast and the subject of ridicule. Armed with his imagination, he will make them all eat his words.

They say you can't go home again, but some people just don't know how to take good advice. Susan, from Grendel: War Child, is returning to the place where she grew up. Unfortunately, it's not the place she remembers. A gang of surly punks have taken over the town, and they're anything but welcoming to new faces. Susan's coming home, all right, but if she's planning on staying she'll have to paint the town blood red. Also in this issue: Matt Wagner takes you into the Imperial Court and introduces you to the Grendel-Khan, Jupiter III. Be there as the empire crumbles in "Babylon Crash, Pt. 1," the latest installment of Matt Wagner's fully painted back-up feature, Devil Quest.

Something's in the air, and Susan's mistaken it for love. Having returned to her hometown after a decade absent, she's reunited with Avril, and romance from days past is reawakened. But Susan's town is now run by a gang of punks called Orion's Bastards, and Avril is under their jurisdiction. They're looking to shatter the romance just as they've crushed the once-quaint town. Will they succeed in destroying love's young dream? Or will the blood on their hands be their own? Also in this issue: "Babylon Crash, Part 2." The latest installment of Matt Wagner's fully painted epic, Devil Quest, opens the doors of the Khan's palace, revealing an empire in its last, sordid days. Jupiter III seeks salvation in his quest for the devil, but he may end up finding his destruction instead.

Susan Veraghen has returned to her hometown, but it's not the place she remembers, and if she plans to stay, she'll have to paint the town red--blood red. Orion's Bastards, led by the monstrous Buster, have put the once-quaint town under their boots, and they're not rolling out the welcome wagon. But Susan bears the mark of the Devil, and when the Bastards take the only thing she holds dear, there'll be Hell to pay. Homecoming is a critical narrative link between Grendel: War Child and the upcoming Grendel illustrated novel by Greg Rucka and Matt Wagner. BE ADVISED: CONTAINS VIOLENCE AND ADULT LANGUAGE.
