Gambit broke into a mansion, where he found Bella Donna still alive. Members of the Assassin Guild attacked Gambit, until his father in law Marius arrived and challenged him to a duel. Gambit accepted the challenge and clashed swords with Marius, defeating him, but refused to kill him. Rogue crashed through a window and joined Gambit in fighting the Assassins. Marius asked Gambit to save Bella Donna by giving her the "Elixir of Thieves." Meanwhile, Julien returned to his father and wounded him. Gambit and Rogue walked in on a tithing ceremony and asked his father to save Bella Donna. Later, when a Tithe Collector walked down the street, he was attacked by Pierre of the Thieves Guild and Julien, in an attempt to steal the elixir from him. Gambit left Rogue and Bella Donna behind to visit Marius, who he found wounded. In Paris, Gideon and Candra stood by a sitting corpse.
