PROFILE: Sarek. Vulcan Ambassador to United Federation of Planets. Father of Spock and Sybock. Married to his third wife, Perrin, a human woman. A legen in Federation diplomatic history. Truly a man of dedicated and sworn peace, Sarek is a firm and greatly respected leader and statesman.

Text from back of the card:
Sarek of Vulcan served as a Federation Ambassador for many decades. Among his notable accomplishments were the Coridan admission and the alliance between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. To counter the emotionally crippling effects of Bendii Syndrome, Sarek mind-melded with Captain Picard. This gave him the needed emotional stability to complete the Legaran treaty, considered his final triumph.

I.D.I.C. – Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combination. More than just a simple credo, for those of the planet Vulcan it is the cornerstone of their philosophy.
Now, on the Vulcan Science Colony Nisus, that credo of tolerance is being put to the sternest test. For here, on a planet where Vulcan, Human, Klingon and countless other races live and work side by side, a deadly plague has sprung up. A plague whose origins are somehow rooted in the concept of I.D.I.C. itself. A plague that threatens to tear down that centuries-old maxim and replace it with an even older concept…

Here is a very special Star Trek novel; from the woman consistently voted by fans as their favorite writer from the original Star Trek television series!
D.C. Fontana, writer of such classic episodes as "Journey to Babel" and "This Side of Paradise", here brings us the never-before-told story of a very young Mr. Spock, on his first mission aboard the USS Enterprise. You'll also meet Captain Christopher Pike and his enigmatic first officer, "Number One" (previously seen only in the original Star Trek pilot "The Cage"), as well as the ship's brand-new engineering officer, Montgomery Scott.
Vulcan's Glory is the tale of Spock's struggle to reconcile his many obligations – those forced on him by his Vulcan heritage, and those chosen by him upon his enlistment in Starfleet – to balance the wishes of others against the desires of his own heart.
